In today's video, Mayor Paul Medany visits Deptford's Clement Oak, a 400+ year-old tree which served as a meeting place for members of the Lenape tribe. It later became the landing site of Jean-Pierre Blanchard's famous balloon flight on January 9, 1793, the first in the Americas. We commemorate this historical event each year with our "Come Fly with Us" essay and coloring contest for Deptford students. 🌳
